How the ResMed AirMini humidifies without a water tub, what HumidX and HumidX Plus change at night, and how it compares with tub models.
Most CPAP machines add moisture to the air with a heated water tub. The ResMed AirMini takes a different route. It has no water tub at all. Instead it uses waterless humidification called HumidX, with a HumidX Plus option. This article explains what that means in daily use and how it compares with the water tubs on the AirStart 10 and AirSense 10 AutoSet.

Why CPAP air is humidified at all
A CPAP machine moves room air through the tubing and into your mask all night. Some people find that steady airflow dries the nose or mouth. Humidification adds moisture back into that air. On a standard machine, that moisture comes from water you pour into a tub before bed.
How waterless humidification works
Moisture from your own breath
HumidX is a small part that sits in the air path. When you breathe out, it holds on to some of the warmth and moisture in your breath. When you breathe in, that moisture is returned to the incoming air. The general idea is a moisture exchanger, so no tub, no filling and no emptying.
HumidX and HumidX Plus
The AirMini lists both HumidX and HumidX Plus. The Plus version is meant for people who want more moisture than the standard one gives. Which one suits you is a reasonable question for your clinic, and we can confirm what we carry on WhatsApp.
It goes with the mask setup
Because HumidX sits in the air path, it is part of how the AirMini connects to your mask. Tell us which mask you use or plan to use, and we will confirm the matching setup before you order.
What changes in your nightly routine
- No water to carry or fill. There is nothing to pour before bed and nothing to tip out in the morning.
- No tub to wash and dry. The tub-cleaning routine that comes with a water humidifier does not apply.
- HumidX is a replaceable part. It is changed rather than cleaned. Follow the manual for how often, and ask us on WhatsApp for current prices.

Is waterless enough for Malaysian nights
Malaysia is humid for most of the year, but bedrooms with air-conditioning running all night can feel much drier than the air outside. That is why some people still want humidification here. Whether HumidX gives you enough moisture is personal, so it is worth asking your clinic, especially if you already know you get a dry nose or mouth on CPAP.

Purchase starts from RM4,900. There is an instalment plan of RM1,800 × 3 months with no credit card. Rental is not listed for the AirMini.
